An analysis of five years of data from the NCVS (National Crime Victimization Survey) found that of over 14,000 crimes with contact between offenders and victims, guns were used by less than 1 percent of the victims, despite the fact that about 25 % of adults are gun owners. In over 300 sexual assaults NOT ONCE did a woman use a gun to protect herself.
